Bulgaria: Save the Dreams - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Bulgaria
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Claudio Scorretti, Maria Vassileva, Gaudenz B. Ruf
New energies that emerge, progress, intersect, collide. Imago Mundi showcases the contemporary art of Bulgaria, eastern gate of the Balkan Peninsula and link between East and West, Europe and Asia Minor, the Danube and the Black Sea, traditionally a place of transit and of extraordinary cultural heterogeneity. Over 140 works of art that reflect the creative fervour and the imaginative, ironic, joyous and sometimes desperate Bulgarian identity that is currently under construction. A collection that brings together artists of different generations and with contrasting aesthetic ideas, painters with a classical approach to the canvas and contemporary artists for whom the canvas is merely a tool. Artists living in Bulgaria or who have left the country, teachers or students for whom the most important thing is freedom of speech and debate.
Bulgaria: Save the Dreams. Contemporary Artists from Bulgaria is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
