Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection

Texts by Luciano Benetton, Chiara Pirozzi, Pasquale Esposito

The first Imago Mundi collection dedicated to the Regions of Italy comes from Campania, in tribute to a complex and jagged culture, rich in historical references that combine the contributions of every artist and writer (from Caravaggio to Turner, Corot and Stendhal, along with many others) who has travelled, lived and worked here, acquiring an in-depth understanding of this ideal and erratic South. The collection contains the works of 143 artists and aims to create an honest and wide ranging mapping of the contemporary creativity of Campania, from the experimental works by students of the Accademia to historicised artists, from established maestros to the creativity of the young generations who, through installations, performance art, video, painting and sculpture, have for some time secured the attention of national and international critics.

Doni. Authors from Campania is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country, native people or region (as in the case of this collection, the first dedicated to a Region of Italy), is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
