Go go Ghana! - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Ghana
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Enrico Mascelloni, Virginia Ryan, Atta Kwami
A collection of work that demonstrates the surprising richness, vitality and creative elegance of the artists of Ghana and documents the changes taking place in this country marching rapidly towards the future. A visual snapshot of an art scene that makes it possible for local experiences of modernity to blend with a variety of international trends; to combine realism and abstract synthesis, brilliant colours and monochromes, tributes to the past and the avant-garde, bas-reliefs of beads and up-cycled objects, hopes and the pitfalls of modernity. And, most importantly, expression and research.
Go go Ghana! is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
