Greece: Traces of Today - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Greece
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Polina Kosmadaki, Anastasia Karangelou, Christopher Marinos
Emotion, feeling, vision, transparency: with tenacity and inspiration, over 200 Greek artists - masters of colour and young talents – communicate, through their works, the pictorial culture of their country, its ancient splendours and contemporary adversities. Pride in tradition and openness to the most advanced cultural influences become compensatory factors for the country’s social hardships. Animated by the incendiary passions that have shaped the history of Greece and the whole of Western civilization, the artists of this new Imago Mundi collection invite the country to resume its journey. Like the ancient heroes armed with swords, philosophy, mythology and a sense of history, they face the uncertainties of our day to create a new world before our eyes.
Greece: Traces of Today. Contemporary Artists from Greece is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
