Iraq / Light - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Iraq
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Moataz El-Safty, Hamed Saeed Marzouk
Art as light and hope: 140 artists and the courageous portrait of a land that is both the cradle of human history and a wounded country. A country that after thirty years of war continues to be divided by tribal struggles, contradictions and difficulties. This collection is not only an international promotion of so many deserving artists, it is a response to the obscurantism of those who, in trying to delete Art and History, demean and nullify also themselves, their beliefs and their future.
IRAQ / LIGHT. Contemporary Artists from Iraq is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
