Contemporary Artists from Malaysia
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Antonius Kho, Ooi Kok Chuen
Imago Mundi reaches Malaysia, land of real and imaginary journeys, a melting pot of peoples, traditions, new and modern perspectives, and brings to light an unprecedented collection, polyphonic and multi-ethnic; the reflection of a country and its plurality of expression.
A collection in which 155 artists build, step by step, a visual itinerary between East and West, past and future, legend and reality, at the same time bearing witness to international artistic developments, with sensitivity to Islamic values and to the artistic characteristics common to the countries of Southeast Asia. They demonstrate how creative ideas and inspiration are generated and thrive through diversity, meetings and contrasts.
Malaysia: Colours of Destiny is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
